Chris Wang

Dr. Wang has twenty-eight years of combined industry and

academic experience in nuclear engineering, radiation health

physics, and medical physics. In the last seventeen years, he has

been a professor of the Nuclear & Radiological Engineering and

Medical Physics Program at Georgia Tech. His research areas

include radiation detection, dosimetry, biophysical modeling of

cell response to radiation, and neutron therapy modalities for

cancer treatment. Most recently he has been developing a new type

of gas proportional counter that employs gas electron multipliers.

The new detector has a plate-like geometry as opposed to the

traditional cylindrical or spherical geometry. As such, the new

detector has advantages for detecting high-energy neutrons at

proton therapy facilities and for homeland security applications.
